I wouldn’t personally consider the The Great Gatsby as a masterpiece, but I could understand why people would view it that way. In the title, Fitzgerald decided to write The GREAT Gatsby, and to most readers, although he doesn’t seem all that great, to me he is. His drive and unbelievable self motivation to achieve riches and true love, basically the American Dream, is very rare. He did whatever he needed, to achieve his dream, and that’s how I think life should be. Gatsby had a dream, and he went for it, instead of what most people do, by putting their dreams aside and doing what’s practical. Now, I don’t fully support how he fulfilled his dream, but the fact that he was independent and took a risk to fulfill his dream, I really respect.
The book is a masterpiece, because it’s a book about truth. It tells a story, with not much of a plot, with a terrible and unhappy ending. It tells about the truth of how life was during the 1920s, even if it was a dark time.
Also the writing style is so simple, and has such symbolism and underlying meaning. Fitzgerald’s style is unbelievably amazing, and I loved the way he wrote things so short and simple, or so nonchalant, that has such depth and meaning to it.

Gatsby Turned Out Alright?
Gatsby turned out all right in the end, because he’s dead. Gatsby was killed as an innocent man, and although he had a shady past, he didn’t deserve death. I feel like Nick really liked Gatsby as a person, and when he was killed, I feel like he had lost hope for the world. Experiencing that loss where an innocent man, who Nick had grown close with, was murdered for no apparent reason, it shows how cruel people can be,
Also, Gatsby and Daisy were in love. The fact that Gatsby was killed, and that they never could be together again, also is a reason to give up hope in the world. Nick feels like Gatsby’s better off dead, then in this world.

The Great Gatsby Ending
I feel like the Great Gatsby would end with Gatsby and Daisy dead. Gatsby used to work for the Mafia, which is how he came across all his fortunes. He killed many people and has done many horrible things, but he’s done them out of love for Daisy, and to show her how much he can provide for her. Well thing’s unravel, and the Mafia is out to get Gatsby, in spite of him leaving their “family”. They decided to get back at Gatsby by using Daisy, and all in all they both end up dead.
Now this is why Nick mentioned in the beginning of how Gatsby represents everything he hates, but also what he accepts, at the same time.
